Christmas Festival 2018

                                                                                                         November 30, 2018

Dear Parents,

It’s that time of year again? The holiday season is upon us, and your child has a very busy schedule ahead. So, we wanted to let you know about our year-end festival.

Our Christmas program is Monday, December 17, 2018 at 6 pm, and our class party is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm. This year our class voted for pizza, wings, cupcakes, nachos and cheese, candy, and drinks (Dr. Pepper, Coke Cola, and Orange Sunkist). We will have to buy plates, cups, and bowls too. They have voted to look at a movie and maybe play games for the entertainment.

I am asking that each child bring $10.00 to school by Thursday, December 13 to help cover the cost of the food and supplies. In addition, the children voted to bring gifts at five-dollar ($5.00) value to exchange gifts. If your child is a boy, he needs to bring a boy gift. If your child is a girl, she needs to bring a girl gift. They need to place on gift to girl or boy and then from (his/her name). Please allow your child to participate with this also to experience the joy of giving. Students need to bring gift by Monday, December 17.

We are allowed to have only two (2) parent helpers (one per a family) to help with the party. First ones to volunteer will be the first to be accepted. We have to turn your name into the office. Please classdojo or send letter back with note as soon as possible. I will classdojo and let you know when we have our two.

We are looking forward to all the fun and festivities that the month of December has to offer. Do not forget that the deadline for the $10.00 party money is Thursday, December 13. Thanks again parents for all you do, have a wonderful Christmas!

Valentine ( A time to share)

Dear Parents,

Valentine's Day is fast approaching. We are not having a party, but students may exchange Valentine cards and treats that are not cupcakes. Students may bring pencils, erasers, a piece of candy, etc.... This is a great opportunity for you and your child to be creative and give in another way with pencils, etc.... Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

Thank you,

3rd Grade Teachers

List of suggested African American Authors or Illustrators

African American Authors and Illustrators

The following is a list of authors and illustrators of children’s books. We are not familiar with all of the people listed, so a few may not be African American though they write books about African Americans. You will not know until you get the biographical information about that person. Please let us know of anyone who should not be included on this list and choose another person for your project. Remember to choose books on your child’s level so he/she can read atleast 3 books by the same author or illustrator for the summaries. Thank you and have fun!!!
