Tyese was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She is a product of the Bessemer City Schools.  Tyese received her Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education from Alabama A & M University. Her first year teaching was at C.F. Hard Elementary and then she transferred to Westhills Elementary.  She taught fourth grade for 14 years, and is currently working as a Fifth Grade Teacher.

She is a proud mother of a beautiful daughter named Hailey and a handsome son named Caleb. Tyese's mother once gave her some advice that she now uses in her classroom, as well as her Golden Rule: "If a task has once begun, never leave it til' it's done.  Be thy labor great or small, do it well or not at all."

Tyese Perkins was the Westhills Elementary School Teacher of the Year for the 2014-2015 school year. She loves teaching, and helping to shape the minds of her students.
